DMN Modelling in Sparx Enterprise Architect Course

Training

DMN Modelling with Sparx Enterprise Architect

Introduction

The Object Management Group's (OMG's) Decision Model and Notation (DMN) is a modeling language for capturing the design of decision processes. It provides an industry standard way to model decisions using proven techniques and approaches.

Operational decisions can always be defined in terms of inputs (the current operational situation) and outputs (the wished-for outcome), and the DMN language allows non-programmers to capture that model in a well-defined (and automatable) notation.

Decision modeling captures the questions these decisions pose and the answers that are possible. It documents the information they rely on and how they are influenced by company policies, external regulations and local expertise.

This results in a thorough and precise definition of decision-making that allows the impact of any proposed change to be quickly assessed. In addition, the requirements for a decision and any gaps or flaws in an organisation’s approach are swiftly revealed.

This two-day course focuses on the practical application of decision modeling with DMN in the Sparx Enterprise Architect tool. It teaches delegates how to unambiguously describe decision-making, specify analytic requirements and develop decision logic (business rules).
