Real IRM

Leading Enterprise Architecture Value™

2019 has seen the launch of The Open Group’s TOGAF Business Architecture Level 1 qualification. Real IRM prides itself as being the only service provider to offer this accredited course and credential in South Africa.

The credential is aimed at individuals who want to validate their knowledge and understanding of Business Modelling, Business Capabilities, TOGAF Business Scenarios, Information Mapping, and Value Streams by applying them in the development of a Business Architecture based on the TOGAF ® Standard Version, 9.2.

The ArchiMate 2.1 Specification and supporting materials were released today. ArchiMate 2.1 is a maintenance update to ArchiMate 2.0, addressing comments raised since the introduction of ArchiMate 2.0 in 2012.

The Open Group has announced their new Open FAIR Certification Program aimed at Risk Analysts. The certification program focuses on The Open Group Risk Taxonomy and Risk Analysis standards which have advanced the risk analysis profession by defining a standard taxonomy for risk, and by describing the process aspects of a rigorous risk analysis.

In order to become certified, Risk Analysts must pass an Open FAIR certification exam which is currently available at Prometric Centres. Training courses will be delivered through an Open Group accredited channel.

Real IRM will be providing TOGAF® 9 training in Cape Town in August 2011. The course is open to the public and promises an interactive training experience that combines formal training with informal class discussion.

Understanding the data structures within an organisation is the key to successful data management. This understanding is reached by modelling the various data structures using the industry standard notations. Real IRM’s Data Modelling Foundation course addresses this by tackling both relational operational databases and dimensional analytical cubes.

South Africa is ranked fifth in the world when it comes to TOGAF® 9 certification numbers. According to The Open Group, at the beginning of June there were already 7,200 individuals certified from more than 50 countries worldwide. Following on the heels of the UK, Netherlands, USA and Australia, South Africa has 5.5% of all these certified individuals.

In South Africa, the first TOGAF® course was presented by Real IRM in 2006. Since then the company has certified hundreds of individuals both locally and abroad, and continues to present public and in-house courses each month.

A certification provides assurance that individuals have the expertise and experience required to get the job done. The Open Group offers three certifications for practitioners; TOGAF® Certification, IT Architecture Certification (ITAC) and IT Specialist Certification (ITSC).

The training schedule for 2011 is available and promises a number of exciting enterprise architecture-related courses. Alongside our renown TOGAF® 9 training, Real IRM is offering beginner EA and SOA courses, the EA Bootcamp and SOA Smart Start, as well as a basic modelling language course, ArchiMate Foundation. New additions to look out for on the schedule include Data Modelling Training and EA Practitioner course; Adapting TOGAF® 9 for SOA

If you book a 2011 training course now and pay before the end of the year, you are eligible for 2010 prices.

Real IRM’s new SOA Smart Start course takes a blended learning approach to teaching delegates about SOA open standards and models, and SOA governance. This two-day, foundational course focuses on core SOA concepts and shows how SOA relates to enterprise architecture.

When beginning a career as an enterprise architect, it is not easy to know which courses to choose. Existing enterprise architecture (EA) courses focus on a single aspect of EA and assume that delegates have some experience in the field. In a highly complex discipline like EA this is overwhelming and confusing.
