Clive Hatton, senior consultant and trainer at Real IRM, will discuss The Open Group’s recently announced SOA Ontology Technical Standard at the January EA Forum seminars.

The discussion will include a look at how the Ontology can be used to set definitions and interpretations of key SOA concepts that can be agreed and used with others. The aim of the Ontology is to facilitate effective communication about SOA both inside and outside the enterprise by providing architects a common language.

The theme for South Africa’s 2011 Enterprise Architecture Practitioners’ Conference (EAPC) is “Making EA a Business Discipline”. The event will explore how enterprise architects can transform EA into a key enabler of corporate decision-making.

Previous EAPCs have seen a host of local and international speakers from both IT customer and supplier companies providing a topical and varied agenda. The upcoming conference will be no different with a range of speakers presenting in the plenary stream and facilitators leading the parallel workshop streams.

The Open Group SA has created a Twitter page for African enterprise architecture (EA) community announcements, discussions and news. The aim is to keep the community abreast of upcoming Open Group seminars, workgroups and conferences. In addition, community participants are encouraged to post comment and share EA-related information.
