Sarina Viljoen

Sarina is an innovative business and IT professional, a strategic thinker, speaker and trainer with solid experience in Enterprise Architecture (EA).
Sarina’s experience in the various facets of enterprise architecture enables her in the multiple EA-related roles she plays – one of which is the Forum Director and contributor to the Exploration, Mining, Metals and Minerals vertical (EMMMv); an Open Group forum focused on delivering the standard reference model set for the Exploration and Mining sector.
Her background, network and experience serve her well in her consulting engagements, where she actively practices architecture to facilitate organisational change and to assist organisations with their specific needs given their maturity and level of executive engagement. Sarina is relationship-driven with broad IT and business knowledge and can apply this knowledge to solve business problems across various domains and industries.
As a regular contributor to the development of TOGAF™, she has been instrumental in framing today's thinking of what enterprise architecture is.
Sarina’s tenure at an incumbent telecommunications operator formed her conviction that enterprise architect was the only way to facilitate the massive change the organisation was undergoing. She led the enterprise architecture work for several years during which time she was the chairperson of the global design authority and performed the role of the Chief Architect.
Having faced the challenges of working for such a large business within the Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) industry, Sarina is well-equipped in terms of the practical implementation of enterprise architecture and has a deep understanding of the value enterprise architecture provides the business.
Sarina is TOGAF™ 9 and Zachman™ certified, and holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from the University of Johannesburg and a Master of Science (Management of Innovation and Technology) from the Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management. Her dissertation focused on the influence that enterprise architecture has on information flow within an organization.
